Mission Statement

At Lewisburg Animal Hospital, our mission is to serve our clients and their beloved companions by offering advanced medicine, surgery, and nursing care. We strive to provide this level of care in a personal and relaxed environment with the utmost compassion for our patients.

Furthermore, we are committed to continued education and training for our doctors and staff and will work to incorporate newer methods and techniques as the veterinary field evolves. Our success is measured by the positive impact we make on the pets and people of our community.

Our Roots

Lewisburg Animal Hospital originally opened in 1977 as Lewisburg Animal Clinic and provided care to both large and small animals. Dr. Victor Wakefield owned and operated the clinic until 2008. Dr. Tresha Grissom started her career at Lewisburg Animal Clinic as a kennel and barn attendant while in high school. She left to attend college and veterinary school, then came back to work with Dr. Wakefield as an associate veterinarian in 2004 before purchasing the practice in 2009 from her mentor.

Lewisburg Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary facility catering to small animals. In 2017, we opened a brand new 4,200 sq. ft. state-of-the-art veterinary hospital on our original property. This hospital has allowed us to more comfortably serve our patients and their owners and offer new services as we have continued to grow into a four-doctor practice serving Marshall County.

Our original clinic building was completely remodeled in the same year to become Maggie-Roo Pet Retreat & Grooming Salon, a 2,500 sq. ft. separate facility dedicated solely to pampering your four-legged family.

At Lewisburg Animal Hospital and Maggie-Roo, we are proud of our history and maintain the original practice philosophy of treating our clients like family. Our doors are always open for building tours for potential or existing clients. We are so fortunate to each day honor our commitment to the pets and people of our community!

We sincerely appreciate the opportunity to serve you. If we can do anything to provide you or your companion better care, please let us know.

Tresha Grissom, D.V.M.

I was raised on a small dairy farm in Chapel Hill, Tennessee...

I was raised on a small dairy farm in Chapel Hill, Tennessee. I attended the University of Tennessee where I earned a BS in Agriculture in 1998 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2002. I began working as an associate veterinarian at Lewisburg Animal Hospital in 2004, and in 2009, I purchased the practice.

I enjoy really getting to know not only our patients, but the families who bring them to us. I have so many clients who I practically consider family! I love the variety and entertainment a career in veterinary medicine provides and wouldn’t trade it for the world!

I met my husband, Doug, when I was a freshman at U.T., and we were married in 1998. We have two sons, Gavin and Cohen. Our family also includes Phil, the one-eyed yellow Labrador Retriever and Blaster and Bobby Bushay, our resident mouser kitties.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time on our family's farm as well as at the lake. I love following high school and college sports and enjoy traveling when I can. I stay involved in the Marshall County community and am a proud member of the Lewisburg Rotary Club. I also serve on the boards of the Marshall Education Foundation, the Chapel Hill Touchdown Association, and the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce.

I am a 2011 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. I love all aspects of small animal veterinary medicine, but am most passionate about preventative care medicine and soft tissue surgery. I have two boys, a supportive loving husband and a very vocal orange cat named Lion. On the weekends, you most likely will find me supporting my boys at one of their many extracurricular activities. I am so grateful to be a part of the team at Lewisburg Animal Hospital. I could not ask for a better team of doctors or support staff to work alongside.

I have had a love for animals as far back as I can remember...

I have had a love for animals as far back as I can remember. As a little girl, I spent my time with my grandfather’s barn cats, my dogs, the cattle, the horses or any other animal that crossed my path. If I felt they needed my help, I was more than willing to care for them. I have always had a passion and great respect for wildlife. I have spent many days treating and transporting wildlife to rehab centers.

I graduated from Columbia State Community College and became a Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician in 1996. I have worked at this hospital for over 20 years. I live on my family’s farm with my husband David, my daughter Olivia and our pets.

I joined Lewisburg Animal Hospital in March...

I joined Lewisburg Animal Hospital in March of 2017 as a Veterinary Assistant. I graduated from Columbia State Community College with an associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology in May of 2017.

A few months later I passed my board exams and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician. I currently live here in Lewisburg with my other half and our four-legged babies. Rebel is our rambunctious Boxer/Pit mix-he is such a mom ma’s boy and my loyal shadow. Dublin is our gentle Rottweiler/Shepherd mix. When we adopted him, he was heartworm positive and living in a shelter. Today Dublin is heartworm negative and enjoys wrestling with Rebel. Anastasia and Harley are our two cats. They are inseparable and enjoy stirring up trouble together.

Lewisburg Animal Hospital is not just my place of work, they are my family. They have taught me so much and have helped mold me into the technician I am today. I look forward to growing with them for many years to come.

I have lived in Lewisburg my whole life and have worked in the field since 2013. I graduated from Columbia State Community College in 2015 and then received my technician license thereafter. I came aboard the Lewisburg team in 2019 and am excited to grow here with this wonderful team for years to come.
