We offer a full line of surgical services including routine spay/neuter procedures to more complex orthopedic procedures such as knee repair. We also offer oral surgery as well as surgical A.I. Lewisburg Animal Hospital utilizes gas anesthesia, warm water blankets, and a Hot Dog Patient Warming System for thermoregulation, and monitoring equipment such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure measurement, heart rate monitoring, ECG, and respiratory monitoring to help assure the safety of your pet during surgical procedures. In addition, a technician is assigned to monitor your pet during its anesthetic procedure.
We begin most general anesthetic procedures by administering a sedative to help the pet relax and decrease any anxiety and pain. We then administer an intravenous drug to provide complete anesthesia and place a breathing tube into the patient’s trachea (windpipe). To maintain the state of unconsciousness, we deliver a gas anesthetic in combination with oxygen through the breathing tube.
In some instances your pet’s procedure can be performed with mild sedation and local anesthetic.
We know your pet is your baby, so we strive to make their surgical procedure and recovery as comfortable as possible. We provide pain control routinely with all surgeries, and we monitor them closely as they awaken from anesthesia.
